Orlando BASS was born in 1994 and showed an early interest in music. He became a pupil at Limoges Conservatory where he obtained diplomas in a number of subjects including piano, viola and harpsichord. Since 2013 he has been studying composition in the “écriture” class at the  Paris Conservatory, adding piano accompaniment, improvisation and concert piano classes in 2014 and 2015, and also obtaining prizes in harmony, counterpoint and fugue.
Orlando has composed and performed music in collaboration with contemporary artists and dancers, appearing as a soloist in festivals around France and Europe (1001 Notes, Concer’thés, Mille Sources…) with concerts at the Paris Philharmonie, Salle Pleyel, Pontoise Early Music Festival and a piano and harpsichord recital
for Radio France.
Currently writing a thesis on composer, painter and engraver Michel Ciry, he has performed several of the latter’s works. Orlando enjoys playing jazz, has a pronounced appetite for improvisation, arrangement and composition.
He has won several international prizes in contemporary music and recently won the 16th Paola Bernardi Harpsichord Competition in Bologna.
