Les Esprits Animaux is a Netherlands-based baroque band created in 2009. The group has earned through the last years great acclamation of both music critics and audiences. It has enjoyed an intense concert schedule, performing in several European countries as well as in Japan. In 2016, Les Esprits Animaux has been awarded 1st prize, press jury prize, youth jury prize and Early Music Season prize at the “International Van Wassenaer Competition 2016” in the framework of the Festival OudeMuziek Utrecht (The Netherlands). After being selected in 2010 for the Young Ensemble Residency at the Centre Culture de Rencontre d’Ambronay, the ensemble kick-started a successful career. Among several international festivals and concert venues where the ensemble has performed in across The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, a few are worth emphasising: Festival d ́Ambronay, Seizoen Oude Muziek (Festival OudeMuziek Utrecht), Musica Antica da Camera, Vlaanderen festivals in Gent and Antwerpen (AMUZ), La Folle Journée en Nantes et en Region, Festival de Saint-Michel en Thiérache, International Early Music Festival Banchetto Musicale, De Blijoke. The ensemble recorded broadcastings with France Musique (France), Musiq3 (Belgium), Radio Klara (Belgium), NPO Radio4 (The Netherlands) and Concertzender Nederland (The Netherlands). After having recorded its first CD for Ambronay Éditions (Harmonia Mundi) with a programme dedicated to G. Ph. Telemann in 2011, the ensemble recorded its second CD in 2013 with a program entitled “Transfigurations” for the same label. Its third CD, the most recent one, recorded in April 2018, includes two of the Dresden Quartets, which were recently attributed to G. Ph. Telemann, as well as other pieces rarely performed that can be found in the Cabinet II in the Dresden Library and in Darmstadt, three of them possibly modern world premieres.
