Capella Regia Polona

Capella Regia Polona, the period-instrument ensemble of the Polish Royal Opera, was established in September 2018. The ensemble’s repertoire includes Polish and European Baroque music — oratorio and cantata works, operas and instrumental music. The ensemble consists of young and talented instrumentalists specialising in historically informed performance, playing period instruments or their copies. Its musicians collaborate with leading Polish and international ensembles. The ensemble’s musical director is the harpsichordist Krzysztof Garstka.

Olga Pasiecznik

Soprano. She completed her vocal studies at the Kyiv Conservatory and subsequently continued her education in postgraduate studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw.

She made her debut on the stage of the Warsaw Chamber Opera in 1992, and four years later at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris as Pamina in W. A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She has appeared in opera productions on the world’s most renowned and prestigious stages. Her repertoire includes more than forty roles, among them parts in operas by Monteverdi, Gluck, Handel, Mozart, Weber, Bizet, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Debussy, Tchaikovsky and contemporary composers. These roles have brought her acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

She also performs chamber, oratorio and symphonic repertoire in famous concert halls in almost every country in Europe, as well as in the United States, Canada, China, Japan and Australia. In numerous solo recitals she is accompanied at the piano by her sister, pianist Natalia Pasiecznik.

She has repeatedly performed with leading orchestras from Poland and around the world, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra (USA), the National Orchestra of Belgium, Orquestra Nacional de España and Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE (Spain), The English Concert, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de France, Les Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble (France), Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. She has collaborated with conductors including I. Bolton, F. Brüggen, J.-C. Casadesus, M. Creed, Ch. Dutoit, R. Jacobs, R. Goodman, Ch. Hogwood, H. Holliger, Ph. Herreweghe, J. Kaspszyk, K. Kord, J. Maksymiuk, J.-C. Malgoire, M. Minkowski, K. Ono, A. Parrott, K. Penderecki, T. Pinnock, M. Viotti, A. Wit and M. Zanetti.

Her discography includes more than 50 CD and DVD albums, recorded for labels such as CD Accord, Dabringhaus und Grimm, Harmonia Mundi, Naxos and Opus 111.

She is a laureate of international vocal competitions in ’s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, the Mirjam Helin Competition in Helsinki and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. She has also received numerous distinctions in Poland, including the Polityka Passport Award (1997), Fryderyk Awards for best solo recordings (1997, 2004), the Orfeusz Award of the Warsaw Autumn Festival (1999), the Gold Cross of Merit (2001) and the A. Hiolski Award for best female operatic role (2004). In 2005 and 2010 she was nominated by the international opera magazine Opernwelt for the title of “Best Singer of the Artistic Season”. In 2011 she received the annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and in 2012 she was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

She is a soloist of the Polish Royal Opera.

Andreas Scholl

Born in Germany, Andreas Scholl’s early musical training was with the Kiedricher Chorbuben choir. He later studied under Richard Levitt and René Jacobs at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He has won numerous awards and prizes, including the prestigious ECHO Award for his composition for Deutsche Grammophon’s audio-book of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Nightingale.

Andreas has released a series of extraordinary solo recordings: the most recent being Wanderer – a disc of German Lied in partnership with pianist Tamar Halperin. Other notable releases include Bach cantatas with kammerorchesterbasel; O Solitude – an all-Purcell album with Accademia Bizantina, which won the 2012 BBC Music Magazine award; Arias for Senesino, Heroes – a disc of arias by Handel, Mozart, Hasse and Gluck; Robert Dowland’s A Musicall Banquet; Vivaldi Motets with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra; and Arcadia – a collection of rare and unpublished cantatas by composers from Rome’s Arcadian Circle. All of these recordings are released on Decca.

Andreas’ recorded work also includes Handel’s Solomon and Saul with Paul McCreesh for Deutsche Gramophon, and for Harmonia Mundi, Vivaldi Stabat Mater; Caldara’s Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo; and Crystal Tears – lute and consort songs by John Dowland. Andreas’ DVD releases include productions of Giulio Cesare (for both Decca and Harmonia Mundi), Rodelinda (Warner) and Partenope (Decca).

Operatic roles include the title role in Giulio Cesare at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the 2012 Salzburger Festspiele (opposite Cecilia Bartoli) and Bertarido (Rodelinda) at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the Metropolitan Opera (opposite Renée Fleming). His concert performances have included appearances with Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, the Academy of Ancient Music and at the 2005 Last Night of the Proms – the first counter-tenor ever to have been invited.

Georg Poplutz

The lied and oratorio tenor Georg Poplutz, highly regarded for his tonal sensitivity and expressiveness, is one of the most sought-after performers of baroque music. He grew up in Arnsberg, Germany, and after completing his teacher training in Muenster and Dortmund, he studied voice in Frankfurt / Main and Cologne with Berthold Possemeyer and Christoph Prégardien. Since 2010, he has been advised vocally by Carol Meyer-Bruetting.

Poplutz performs at renowned festivals and in important concert halls and churches in Germany and abroad Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Rudolf Lutz, Hermann Max, Ralf Otto, Andrzej Szadejko, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Christoph Spering, Michael A. Willens, and Roland Wilson, among others. Concert tours have also taken him to China, Georgia, Mexico, Singapore and South Africa. Among the numerous radio and currently about 125 CD or DVD recordings in which Poplutz has appeared as soloist are several cantatas for the J.S.Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (CH) with Lutz, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Passions with Otto, and numerous works for the Heinrich Schütz complete recording with Rademann, which was awarded the „Opus Klassik“ 2020. He also sang in the Oratorio Secondo by Johann Daniel Pucklitz with Szadejko, also awarded this Price in 2022. Two solo-CDs with baroque cantatas and songs were released in 2022, „Das ist meine Freude“ with Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble and Arno Paduch, and „Ich bin mit Gott vergnügt – zuversichtlich durch die Zeiten“ with Telemann Ensemble Frankfurt and Andreas Köhs.

Poplutz also dedicates himself with great enthusiasm to a wide repertoire of songs, together with his long-time piano partner Hilko Dumno. With his organ partner Jürgen Banholzer and his guitar partners Antje Asendorf & Stefan Hladek, Poplutz performed together in Gdansk in 2022 and 2015. Some of the songs are also available on recordings, the latest of which (2023) with poems by Eichendorff by several composers with Rudolf Lutz on the piano, and Songs of Flowers and Trees (2025) with C. Bertucci, Sopran, and T. Dravenau, Piano.
